The
name of the farm “El Pendola” comes from the nickname given to the
great-great-grandfather Pietro Franceschetti
in 1800 by his fellow townsmen: he was an expert vine-grower of the area.
During the winter, Pietro used to work the local wood to build the “pendole”,
that is to say wedges of a particular size which were used to immobilize the
barrels in the cellar so as to avoid their rolling around.
The
great-great-grandfather, known as “El Pendola” because of his being
an expert “pendole” builder, used to say that with a wedge you can
mend everything “except for the collarbone”. The
nickname has remained in time and the family is still known as “El Pendola”.
The house recently restored and elegantly furnished in the style and tradition of the Ceradini-Franceschetti family is now shared with those who wish to spend some time in the quiet of a timeless place. "Mamma Anna Maria" with her sons "Davide" and "Enzo" offer you a typically family-like hospitality. Grandma "Noemi" prepares delicious local dishes in the family restaurant and "Papà Luciano" controlls the agricultural production. All wines and other products you can taste in the "Bottega". El Pendola offers also the possibility for Wine-tasting, and meetings etc...
